A suspended oak staircase becomes the backbone of a 1920s hillside house.
A dark, compartmented 1920s house on a steep Silver Lake lot. By opening a void through three floors, light from the roof now reaches the ground floor.
The oak staircase, hung from a new concrete wall, ties everything together.
